Lake Barine Swim

Cairns Mudcrabs Masters Swimming Club Inc.

The Cairns Mudcrabs Masters Swimming Club Inc ventured into open water swimming 4 years ago with the aim to increase participation in open water swimming in Far North Queensland through social, non-competitive swim events.  With the popularity of the annual Lake Barrine swim we have decided to make it our signature open water swim event and commit to hosting it annually.

The Crater Lake Classic is aimed at all open water swimmers - beginners to experienced. For everyone's safety, we do have one pre-requisite - you must be a competent & confident pool swimmer aged 16 years or older.  Wetsuits and any swimming aid (e.g. fins, pull buoys) are permitted.

For those who have supported our events the past 4 years we hope you like the changes we've made.........

NEW!  TEAM EVENTS - previously known as the Enticer event. The new Team events are to encourage groups of 2, 3 or 4 swimmers to form a team and try open water swimming. Team rules are:

- Team 1.9km (2 laps) - 2 swimmers only.

- Team 3.8km (4 laps) - maximum 4 swimmers, each team member must swim a minimum of 1 lap (950m), teams of 3 will require one swimmer to complete 2 laps, not necessarily consecutively.

NEW! AGE GROUP RESULTS - the rego form will now ask 3 extra questions - Age, Wetsuit Y/N, Swim aid Y/N. This is so we can filter results in response to swimmers feedback received at past events. However in keeping with the social, non-competitive history,  we will not award age group place-getters.  Instead, we prefer to award every swimmer for their efforts with souvenir swim merchandise included in your entry fee.

A Swim Guide will be available from Monday, 10 April 2017 via our website & Facebook page.  The swim guide will include the event schedule, course info, swim rules, wave start times, course maps.

After the swim enjoy the delights in the Tea House and catch up with friends.

Please use the top car park and adhere to all rules and regulations displayed .
